Again, for the simple cell cortical receptive field shown in Figure 6, a white colored area represents the presence of a stimulus and the grey colored area (or background color) represents the absence of stimulation. Which of the following stimuli will lead to the greatest firing rate in the cell in the striate cortex that is being recorded? Note that these lines are all of the same width and vary only in their orientation.
